Business Spotlight: a Tribe Called Black - Country Bank- Made To Make A Difference

Business Spotlight: a Tribe Called Black

Since launching in June 2021, A Tribe Called Black (TCB) has been creating powerful, community-centered “brave spaces” across Central Massachusetts and beyond. Founded by Ebony Flint, TCB is a grassroots initiative dedicated to co-creating intergenerational cultural spaces within black, brown, and low-income communities.

Through free, community-led gatherings, TCB supports the global majority in showing up as their full, authentic selves. These “brave spaces”, led by black facilitators with lived expertise, focus on preserving history, processing trauma and change, developing black and brown leaders, and celebrating culture and milestones. At its core, A Tribe Called Black is about collective healing, confidence, and creating spaces where vulnerability is honored and wellness is prioritized.

As a growing entrepreneur, Ebony emphasizes the importance of separating personal and business finances, which is advice she has lived by. Opening a dedicated business account was a pivotal step in building a strong foundation for TCB’s growth.

Ebony shared that her relationship with Country Bank has been an important part of that journey. From walking her through the process of opening her business account to consistently providing guidance and education, the team has helped her feel confident navigating her finances. Being welcomed into the Grafton Street location in Worcester, and having a trusted partner to answer questions before challenges arise, has reduced stress and allowed her to focus on expanding the Tribe’s impact.

At Country Bank, supporting local businesses like A Tribe Called Black reflects our ongoing commitment to strengthening the communities we serve. When entrepreneurs are empowered with the right financial tools and trusted relationships, they can continue doing the meaningful work that moves our communities forward.
